Luke Bryan Opens Up About Katy Perry's Exit From 'american Idol'

In a recent interview with Taste of Country, Country music sensation Luke Bryan addressed his co-judge Katy Perry‘s decision to step down from her role on the popular reality show ‘American Idol’.

Bryan was candid about his reaction to the news, admitting that Perry’s departure wasn’t exactly a surprise. He had heard rumors about her potential exit and was prepared when the official announcement came.

“It wasn’t a tremendous shock,” Bryan divulged. “I heard whispers about her considering it. So, when she finally announced it, it wasn’t entirely unexpected.” told Taste of Country.

The ‘Country Girl’ hitmaker went on to share more about his friendship with Perry and how it developed over their time together on the show.

Bryan and Perry, both stalwarts of the music industry, have forged a close bond over their years as judges on ‘American Idol’. Bryan spoke fondly of their relationship, reminiscing about the times they shared on set.

“Katy and I have formed a great friendship during our time on the show. I was there before her daughter was born, and now her daughter is already 3 or 4 years old. It’s been a good run.”

He further praised Perry for her mothering skills and said it was a pleasure getting to know her.

As for Perry’s future endeavors, Bryan assured that their friendship will not be affected by her decision to leave the show. He expressed his willingness to be there for Perry, no matter what her next move might be.

“Whatever Katy decides to do next, she knows she can always reach out to me.”

When asked if Perry’s decision to leave ‘American Idol’ had made him rethink his own position on the show, Bryan responded that it’s a question he often asks himself.

“Not really. Every year, we renegotiate how we do ‘Idol’. It’s a year-long commitment, not a five-year contract. We decide whether to come back or not during the later stages of ‘Idol’. That’s how we’ve done it for seven years.”

Perry, on the other hand, chose to announce her departure during an appearance on the ‘Jimmy Kimmel Live!’ show. She cited the need to focus on her music and her upcoming performance at the ‘Rock in Rio’ music festival in Brazil as the primary reasons for her decision to leave ‘American Idol’.

Perry’s exit from ‘American Idol’ was met with mixed reactions. While some fans were disappointed, others expressed their excitement for her future ventures. Her decision to leave came after a series of online rants criticizing her teaching methods on the show.

However, Perry defended herself, claiming that the show’s producers intentionally edited footage to portray her in a negative light. Fellow judge Lionel Richie also weighed in on the situation, expressing his support for Perry’s decision.

‘American Idol’ continues to air on ABC every Sunday and Monday at 8 p.m.
