Daniel Jones Announces Giants Are Considering Qb In 2024 Nfl Draft

As teams prepare for the upcoming 2024 NFL Draft, the New York Giants find themselves in a peculiar situation. At the center of this vortex is 26-year-old quarterback, Daniel Jones, who’s coming off a major injury but remains resolute about his position in the team.

Jones, who is on the mend from a severe ACL tear, asserts that he’s the best choice for the Giants as their starting quarterback in 2024. His confidence shines through his words, “I do, yes,” said Jones, sporting a broad grin. Despite the injury setback, he’s been religiously working on his rehabilitation at the team facility, a testament to his unwavering dedication.

Jones is optimistic about his recovery timeline, aiming to be fully fit by the training camp. “The plan is to be ready to go by training camp. That’s what I’m shooting for, and I feel good about being ready,” he stated. His improvements are evident, with Jones now able to throw with movement and engage in “quarterback-specific drills.”

The Giants’ management, however, is in a tough spot. The upcoming NFL Draft presents them with an opportunity to bring fresh talent into their roster. With the 6th overall pick, they’re seriously considering selecting a new quarterback. This decision depends on the availability of their preferred players, of course. A possibility of trading up for a high-ranking quarterback is also on the cards.

The Giants’ General Manager Joe Schoen and Head Coach Brian Daboll have voiced their support for Jones, stating that if he recovers in time, he’ll be the opening day starter. Yet, this doesn’t rule out the addition of a new quarterback via the draft.

Jones’ injury history is a matter of concern for the Giants. He’s had two separate neck injuries, and his recent knee surgery only adds to the worry. However, Jones dismisses his second neck injury as a “stinger-type injury,” assuring it’s a common occurrence in football and is now completely resolved.

Coach Daboll remains patient with Jones’ recovery. “I’d say he’s making progress. He’s doing everything we need him to do. Hitting it head on and he’s making strides. It’s day to day with these injuries. Come in and be improved from where you were the day before,” he said.
