First photo of The New Superman is Released by James Gunn

After a lot of talking and behind-the-scenes photos, director James Gunn has finally decided to debut the new Superman in theaters and released the first photo of David Corenswet in the role.

The image features the Man of Steel in his iconic blue and red outfit, finishing putting on his uniform while something strange happens in the city of Metropolis. Check it out below:

Previously called Superman: Legacy , the film marks a new beginning for the hero in theaters. The plot has not been revealed, but it is certain that it will not be an origin story, showing an already experienced Superman, albeit young.

James Gunn, who is also the head of DC Films , directs and writes the script. In addition to Corenswet the film will star Rachel Brosnahan as Lois Lane and Nicholas Hoult as Lex Luthor.

The cast also includes Isabela Merced, Nathan Fillion, Skyler Gisondo, Sean Gunn and María Gabriela de Faría among others.

Superman premieres on July 11, 2025 in theaters.
