After just one year of wedded bliss, the illustrious couple, Kelsey Plum and Darren Waller, have decided to go their separate ways.
The dissolution of their marriage was initiated with a mutual divorce petition filed in Clark County, Nevada. The news was relayed to the public through court records available online.
Kelsey Plum, the professional basketball player for the Las Vegas Aces, hinted at the end of her marriage through a poignant post on her social media channels.
The post from Plum, 29, didn’t mince words as she bared her emotions to her followers. Her statement read, “I’m devastated. I walked through fire for that man, but now I see it’s time to go. God has given me such an incredible life, and I’m truly so grateful for the profound love from my family and friends. One day I’ll share my story, today is not that day.”
This public revelation comes amid widespread conjecture about the state of her matrimonial union with Waller.
Waller, 31, had set tongues wagging earlier in the year when he shared a TikTok video of himself dancing to a remix of The Delfonics’ song “Think It Over.” The accompanying text in the video read: “When ya girl bout to leave you,” further fuelling the rumors about their relationship.
Waller, however, had brushed off the speculations in an interview with TMZ, stating that he was merely joking.
Despite the looming separation, Waller had been a pillar of support for Plum during the Aces’ 2023 championship run.
In her emotional social media post, Plum concluded by expressing her gratitude for the strength to deal with her pain, forgive, and move forward. “Today and everyday I will continue to choose joy. Much love KP Philippians 1:6,” she wrote.
Waller, who was traded to the Giants by the Raiders in March 2023, shortly after tying the knot with Plum, is currently contemplating his future in the NFL. He is considering retirement or returning to the Giants for the 2024 season.
Waller’s recent Instagram post hinted at his current state of mind. He shared images from his offseason travels with the caption: “Peace of mind is not a destination to reach; it’s a state of mind to embrace.”
