Kelly Clarkson Opens Up About Harrowing Pregnancy Experiences

Kelly Clarkson, renowned vocalist and beloved talk show host, recently unveiled her personal struggles with pregnancy complications during her show. Her emotional revelation left the audience, including guest Hillary Clinton, visibly moved.

On a recent episode of her daytime talk show, The Kelly Clarkson Show, the American Idol alumna revealed the challenges she faced during her pregnancies. During a conversation with Hillary Clinton about the Arizona Supreme Court’s decision to revive a near-total abortion ban from 1864, Clarkson became unexpectedly emotional.

She shared the difficulties she encountered during her pregnancies with her children, River (9) and Remington (8) whom she shares with her ex-husband, Brandon Blackstock. As the conversation deepened, Clarkson struggled to hold back tears as she revealed, “I have been pregnant twice, hospitalized both times.”

Clarkson, 41, further shared a painful memory from her second hospitalization, revealing that she had pleaded with God to take her and her son’s life due to the severity of her complications. The revelation was met with shock and sympathy from her guest and audience alike.

The ‘American Idol’ winner admitted, “I didn’t know I’d get emotional, sorry,” signaling her crew with a ‘cut it out’ hand gesture, indicating her wish to edit this part out of the show,  posted to “The Kelly Clarkson Show” YouTube channel.

As Clarkson struggled to regain her composure, former Secretary of State, Hillary Clinton, stepped in to give her a breather. She praised Clarkson’s courage, saying that she was speaking for millions of women around the world, many of whom had experienced similar struggles.

Clarkson continued, expressing the cruelty she felt was inherent in forcing a woman to endure such pain. She emphasized that the decision to bear children was personal and should remain the individual’s choice. The singer candidly stated her belief that removing the choice could potentially be life-threatening for some women.

Despite her experiences, Clarkson was quick to express her love for her children, stating that she was grateful for her decision to have them. However, she emphasized the reality of the hardships of pregnancy, stating, “You don’t realize how hard it is.”

After her difficult pregnancies, Clarkson made a significant move from Los Angeles to New York City, along with her Emmy-winning show and her children. She expressed her love for the city and her contentment with her decision, saying, “After just a few weeks, I genuinely love it, and I love that my kids love it.”

This isn’t the first time Clarkson has spoken about her pregnancy complications. In 2015, she revealed on CBS This Morning that she suffered from all-day sickness during her pregnancies, leading to severe dehydration that required IVs and fluids.
