In the late morning hours, the DPS office building in Brenham became the scene of a horrific act. A stolen 18-wheeler truck was deliberately driven into the building, causing significant damage and resulting in numerous casualties. Authorities confirmed that the act was intentional and not an accident.
The individual behind the wheel was identified as Clenard Parker, a 42-year-old resident of Chappel Hill. Investigations revealed that Parker had previously been denied his Commercial Drivers License and had returned the following day to enact this devastating event. He is currently being held at the Washington County Jail on multiple charges, including unauthorized use of a vehicle and evading arrest or detention, causing serious bodily injury.

When the 18-wheeler crashed into the DPS building, a total of 14 people were inside. Every single person suffered injuries of varying severity, and one individual tragically succumbed to their injuries at the hospital. The 18-wheeler was discovered to have been stolen, adding another layer to this complex case.
Upon the incident’s occurrence, emergency services rushed to the scene to provide much-needed medical aid. Three individuals were in critical condition, two of whom were airlifted to St. Joseph Regional Hospital in Bryan and one to Memorial Hermann Hospital in Houston. Three others were taken to Baylor Scott & White in Brenham and subsequently released. Eight more received treatment at the scene and were released as well.
The Texas Rangers have taken over the investigation, ensuring a thorough probe into the incident. The suspect is facing multiple felony offenses and is held in the Washington County Jail.
