Rain, storms and snow: the forecast for Thanksgiving

If you plan to travel for Thanksgiving, it is important to take the weather conditions into account. Rain, snow and even storms are forecast in some areas of the country, starting this Monday.

In the south of the country, a rain system will develop that will go from the Plains to the Mississippi Valley. Rain will spread across much of the central United States.

But, some parts of the United States Gulf Coast will experience thunderstorms and possibly tornadoes starting the afternoon of this Monday, November 20.

East Texas will be the first region to face damaging thunderstorms, with an atmosphere full of humidity and heat. The storms will pass through Louisiana, Arkansas and into Mississippi through Tuesday morning.

Monday’s storms may also generate winds and hail. Several tornadoes could be generated in Louisiana and Mississippi.

Thanksgiving Weather and Travel

According to CNN’s weather forecast, weather conditions will worsen Tuesday morning in the southeast of the country. There is a severe storm threat, mostly in southern Alabama and northeast Florida. These storms could generate gusts of wind and tornadoes.

Rain will spread to the mid-Atlantic and southeastern regions of the country on Tuesday. Flooding is not expected due to the rains.

Strong wind conditions will develop in the Northeast and Mid-Atlantic, with mixed winds and heavy rain in New York, Boston, Philadelphia and Washington. These weather conditions could cause flight disruptions and delays, as well as congestion on major highways.

Snow threatens Thanksgiving travel

Travelers on this holiday face another challenge: snow. Winter weather in some parts of the northeast could create more travel congestion.

The rain will be mixed with snow and sleet, according to CNN Weather. Precipitation will begin in Pennsylvania on Tuesday morning and in southern New York on Tuesday afternoon.

Winter weather will reach parts of Vermont and New Hampshire. Snow accumulation will be limited to the elevations of the Adirondacks and Green and White Mountains Tuesday night.

On Wednesday, snow will impact travel in New England. Weather conditions will not be as strong on Wednesday, moving away from the east coast.

Caution on the road before the prognosis

Roads will be slick or snow-covered in parts of Snowy York, Vermont and New Hampshire Wednesday morning, following the winter weather. On this day, more snow accumulation is expected in Maine.

Rain will ease Wednesday in Pennsylvania, New Jersey and much of New York, but will continue in North Carolina, South Carolina and some parts of the Southeast.

But not everything is bad news. For travelers to the west of the country, the weather will be perfect for travel on Tuesday and Wednesday.

Thanksgiving Day, meanwhile, will be dry for most Americans. The center and east of the country will have cool weather with cold air.

For the annual Thanksgiving parade in New York, the weather will be dry, but with some winds.

On the Texas coast, there will be some showers. In the west, mountain snow will bring fresh snow to the upper areas of the northern Rockies.
