You Season 5: Release date, cast, trailer and what to expect from the finale

During a recent Netflix event, a shocking video was revealed with details of what will be the fifth and final season of his psychological thriller You, something that all fans have been waiting for.

The first season of the suspenseful psychological thriller youOriginally broadcast on the Lifetime cable television network, it aired in the United States in the fall of 2018. Audiences were immediately intrigued, painfully drawn to the dark novel about handsome bookstore manager Joe Goldberg (Penn Badgley), who was actually a serial killer. With ratings soaring and a second season already in the works, the series moved to Netflixwhere he quickly gained a worldwide audience.

You Season 5: What is known about the new season and the main star

The series is originally set in New York City and the plot centers on a bookstore manager, Joe Goldberg. On the surface, Joe is the perfect gentleman: intelligent, cultured, witty, and an old-fashioned romantic. However, we soon discover that beneath this enchanting facade lies a dangerous and malevolent darkness.

The fourth season of you takes place almost entirely in London, and the ending is no exception. The episode opens with Joe recovering from the unexpected “death” of Marienne (Taty Gabrielle), whom he had locked in the proverbial glass cage, but was about to release. To get rid of the evidence, Joe dumps Marienne’s body on a park bench and stages the whole thing to look like an overdose. However, in one of the twists of the season, it turns out that Nadia (Amy Leigh Hickman) has been working with Marienne to fake her death for real, and helps her escape the country and find her daughter in Paris.

In March 2023, Netflix announced that you will return for a fifth and final season, leaving viewers with the biggest question of all: will Joe finally face justice for his crimes? We got our first look at the fifth season of You at Netflix’s TUDUM event. The sixty second trailer is short and shows Penn Badgley addressing the fans before the end. However, the date was not revealed, but the streaming platform assured that it will arrive soon.

The creators of the series keep the plot of the fifth season of You a secret. However, in a recent interview with the Netflix blog Tudum, Penn Badgley hinted at what might be in store for Joe in the season finale. As Badgley has finally embraced the darkness within him, he has hinted that viewers can look forward to Joe’s inner monologue playing out.

Plus, now that Joe is ready to fully embrace his true nature, we suspect that if Marienne returns to New York to ruin Joe’s new life of luxury, he won’t give her a chance to escape a second time. With season 5 of you Confirmed as the last, the finale that awaits Joe Goldberg is sure to be a memorable one.
