MOSCOW, May 26. /TASS/. Kiev journalist, writer and active supporter of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church (UOC) Yan Taksyur was taken to Russia as part of an exchange with Ukraine. This is stated in a message posted on Friday night on website Union of Orthodox Journalists (UOJ).

According to him, Taksyur arrived in Russia the day after he was sentenced under the article on treason. “The Shevchenko Court of Kyiv sentenced the writer to 12 years in prison,” the UOJ said in a statement.

According to the TV channel “Saved”Taksyur met with his son in the LPR.

Taksyur has repeatedly spoken in the Ukrainian media in support of the canonical UOC, as well as criticizing the actions of representatives of the schismatic Orthodox Church of Ukraine and the Patriarchate of Constantinople. The journalist himself called the criminal case against him persecution for dissent.

Taxyur disappeared on March 10, later it became known that he was placed in a Kiev pre-trial detention center. his wife applied with a request to international human rights organizations to assist in his release, he was in critical condition, but he was denied the necessary assistance. August 13 Taxiura released on bail of 1.2 million hryvnia. According to the UOJ, in September 2022, he underwent surgery due to cancer.
