George Russell dominated this Friday the first free for the Miami Grand Prix (USA), the fifth of the Formula 1 World Cup, which takes place on the circuit built around the Hard Rock Stadium in that town. In the best of his 18 laps, Russell covered 5.412 of the hot Florida state track in one minute, thirty seconds and 125 thousandths212 less than his partner and compatriot, seven-time world champion Lewis Hamilton; and with an advantage of 324 thousandths over Charles Leclerc, who marked the third time of the session. Like the previous ones, with the soft compound tire.

The red flag on the track

The session was interrupted for about eight minutes, with a red flag, to remove the Haas of German Nico Hülkenberg from the track, which had an accident —without major physical consequences— in the third of 19 curves on the resurfaced Miami track; when, in the second half of training, after testing the hard and medium compounds, almost everyone had started to do qualifying simulation.
