Apple iPhone 14 (128GB) – Blue
- Screen: the OnePlus 11 mounts a 6.7-inch AMOLED LTPO panel with 1 to 120 Hz dynamic refresh rateQHD + resolution and maximum brightness of 1300 nits, while the iPhone 14 has a 6.1-inch Super Retina XDR OLED screen at 60 Hz fixed, something incomprehensible for a phone costing more than a thousand euros launched at the end of 2022. Both proposals They support Dolby Vision High Dynamic Range.
- Processor: Apple has reserved the A16 Bionic for its 14 Pro, keeping the A15 Bionic from the previous generation in this iPhone 14. This does not mean that it has poor performance, far from it, but for its price the user would expect to have the latest. The OnePlus 11 equips the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2, the latest jewel from Qualcomm and which promises raw power and greater energy efficiency.
- RAM and storage: iOS and Android manage RAM differently, so the 6 GB of the iPhone 14 is enough for optimal performance. In the OnePlus 11 there are two options: 8 or 16 GB, linked to whether we choose 128 or 256 GB of internal storage. In the case of this terminal, it is more advisable to opt for 16 GB.
- OS: iOS 16 vs. Android 13 with the OxygenOS 13 Personalization Layer. Each one has its strengths and cons, depending on whether we seek greater freedom or a sense of security. OnePlus begins to offer four years of updates with this terminal, which although they are far from the seven that we are seeing in the latest Apple devices, it is a big step.
- cameras: Apple remains “conservative” in the photographic section with its dual 12 MP rear camera and TrueDepth front camera with Face ID, which has improved taking pictures in low light conditions. The OnePlus 11 mounts triple sensor With a 50 MP main camera, a 48 MP wide-angle camera and a 32 MP telephoto lens, the front one remaining at 16 MP.
- connectivity: Both the iPhone 14 and the OnePlus proposal have similar connectivity: WiFi 6 (6E in the case of the OnePlus 11), Bluetooth 5.3, 5G and NFC. The OnePlus has a USB-C connection, while the 14 maintains Lightning.
- Battery: The iPhone 14, according to Apple, is capable of lasting up to 20 hours per charge playing video. The OnePlus 11 mounts a 5000 mAh battery. Our Xataka colleagues have obtained approximate figures of 6:30 hours of screen with mixed use of 5G, WiFi, screen with 2K resolution, dark mode and without AOD. Also has 100W fast charge for moments of urgency that allows you to recharge your mobile from 0 to 100 in just over 20 minutes.
- Security system: Apple continues betting on FaceID and facial unlocking, while the OnePlus 11 is more conservative with its on-screen fingerprint sensor, a method that many users prefer, although each one has its advantages and disadvantages.
- Price: The price of the 128 GB iPhone 14 is 1,009 euros, increasing according to storage capacity. The OnePlus 11 starts at 849 euros.
iPhone 14 VS OnePlus 11, which phone to buy?
Despite the fact that the iPhone 14 is Apple’s cheapest smartphone, its RRP is over a thousand euros and it has several points difficult to justify:
- That the screen has a fixed 60 Hz while much cheaper phones have 90 or 120 Hz and adaptive refresh.
- That it keep the A15 Bionic chip instead of implementing the A16 Bionic, creating an even greater distinction between the Pro and “normal” models.
As strengths it has the autonomy, which is quite good (although the fast charge falls short against competing technologies), the wide support for updates and the good general performance of the device.
Nevertheless, the OnePlus 11 is a firm alternative to the Apple smartphoneespecially considering that:
- It’s cheaper
- The screen has an adaptive refresh rate of 1 at 120 Hz (although the maximum brightness is somewhat fair)
- Quite decent autonomy and ultra-fast charging at 100W
- The powerful Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 chip
The cameras have also improved compared to the previous model, but still have some bugs that make them pale in front of direct rivals. For example, when interpreting the color, since it is quite inconsistent in this aspect.
