Because the first-round duel between Union Lembach and Union Lochen could only be played today (2-0 after penalties), the second-round game also has to be played later. Lembach now meets FC Altmünster at home.
Their head coach Philipp Karlinger is not very enthusiastic about the compulsory break: “The weekend dates are all booked, so that we have to compete under floodlights during the week. In addition, there would be a distance of 120 kilometers if we travel to Lembach. The games would have have to take place in the fall.”
Lembach’s coach, Gerhard Gierlinger, counters: “We couldn’t find a date with Lochen and after the approval of the Upper Austrian football association we canceled the game in the spring. The floodlights aren’t a problem for us because we have a suitable facility.” Whether it really comes to the second round game is not yet certain. It is quite possible that yesterday’s winners will advance to the 3rd round without a fight.
