Media: more than 11% of the conscripts who left Ukraine under a special program did not return

MOSCOW, March 19. /TASS/. More than 11% of Ukrainians of military age who left the country under the Way volunteer travel program did not return. This was reported on Sunday by the publication “A country“.

According to the publication, for 2022, the data of 96,442 men were entered into the Way system. More than 9,000 people who left the country did not return.

On February 24, 2022, martial law was introduced in Ukraine and mobilization was announced. The next day, the State Border Service announced strict restrictions on travel abroad for men from 18 to 60 years old.

The Way system was created back in 2021 to eliminate corruption in the issuance of permits and licenses for international transportation. It contains data on carriers operating international passenger and cargo flights, as well as on volunteers who import goods for the needs of the army and medical institutions. With its help, drivers of military age can cross the border. According to Ukrainian media, since March 2022, this system has given rise to many corruption schemes for conscripts to travel abroad under the guise of volunteers.
