How to get there, what to eat and what time the shows start: everything you need to know about Lollapalooza 2023

Consolidated as one of the biggest music festivals in Brazil, the Lollapalooza returns to the city of São Paulo for its tenth edition. The event will take place between the 24th, 25th and 26th of March at Interlagos Race Track, in the South Zone of São Paulo and will bring together big names in international music. The highlights are Billie Eilish, Drake, Lil Nas X, Rosalía, Tame Impala e Twenty One Pilots. However, the edition is already marked by the cancellation of the American band Blink-182announced as one of the festival’s headliners in 2022. The highly anticipated trio were forced to postpone performances after drummer Travis Barker break your finger weeks before the festival. Even so, thousands of people should fill the racetrack and enjoy the dozens of shows that make up this year’s line-up.

How to get to the Interlagos Racetrack?

The racetrack is located in the Interlagos neighborhood, in the south zone of the city of São Paulo. To get there on the days of the event, it is recommended to use public transport, as streets are blocked and with a high flow of people at arrival and departure times. The best option is to get off at the Autódromo Interlagos Station, on CPTM Line 9-Esmeralda and walk to the venue. The distance is approximately 600 meters.

The festival will also provide a transfer service for BRL 110 (round trip). Boarding will take place at the Hilton Morumbin Hotel (Av. das Nações Unidas, 12901 – Brooklin Paulista, south zone) and at the Hotel Transamérica Higienópolis (R. Alagoas, 974 – Higienópolis, west zone). Those who prefer to go by bus can consult the available lines on the SPTrans.

Food

As with most festivals, Lollapalooza offers food service during the event. Prices for this year have not yet been announced. In 2022, it was necessary to reserve R$6 to buy a bottle of water, while a can of soda cost R$11. Vegan snacks were sold for R$35, while sandwiches cost R$27. take food from home. The festival allows entry of cereal bars, cut fruits and sealed industrialized foods, as well as water in sealed plastic cups.

What can I not bring to the festival?

The organization of Lollapalooza 2023 has already released the list of prohibited items in festival shows. Among them are bottles, chains, sharp objects, selfie sticks and glassware, as well as professional cameras. Everyone will be searched during entry and irregular objects will be discarded by the security team.

What are sideshows?

Sideshows are sideshows that some Lollapalooza artists do before and after the official event. Normally, festival headliners are not among the sideshow attractions. In this edition, there will be four side shows. The first will be on Wednesday, the 22nd, when the band Rise Against performs at Cine Joia. On Thursday, the 23rd, it’s Yungblud’s turn, also at Cine Joia. After the festival, the band Cigarettes After Sex will perform at Audio, on Monday, the 27th. The following day, also at Audio, singer Tove Lo ends the sideshows.

cancellations

Much to the dismay of fans, Lollapalooza 2023 has been marred by performance cancellations. The main one was that of the American band Blink-182, who would be the headliner on Saturday and would play their first show in Brazil. For its place, it was called the Twenty One Pilots. Other artists also canceled shows such as Dominic Fike, Omar Apollo and 100 Gecs. The most recent change came last Wednesday, the 15th, when the singer Willow announced that she would not participate in this edition of Lolla. Rapper Baco Exu do Blues was called to take her place.
