Dufaur, the town that wants to be reborn and tells its story using its own streets as a stage

Currently, this town, which is located at the foot of the oldest part of the Ventania mountain system, offers innovative proposals through community tourism, such as personified guided tours, Creole activities in country houses and exquisite regional snacks.

It should be noted that the place offers the visitor tranquility, security, fresh air and a beautiful panoramic view of the mountains. These landscapes can be explored on foot or by bicycle through the bicycle touring editions. This route consists of 66 kilometers that culminate upon reaching the Chaco Hill.

Share with the visitor, a bit of what identifies them

When the train stopped passing, the town began to die. They went from having more than 600 inhabitants, to having only 167.

A proposal that came in 2012 from rural tourism it was the break for the inhabitants of Dufaur. They were aware of the decline of the town, but that itself was a hope to be reborn.

The inhabitants who stayed were looking for an original way to prevent the town from disappearing. Since they did not have a ranch, a church, or any institution that would be attractive to attract visitors, they began to think about what would be the best way to tell their story, in a different way. Thus, they decided to offer a dramatized guided tour.

For this they created a play where the actors are the neighbors themselves and the streets are the stage. In this story nothing is scripted, everything is spontaneous. Each character that is added tells a part of the story that he knows. Among the performances are musicians, merchants, neighbors, religious, students and teachers. During the tour, the places and characters that were important to the place are shown.

Without a doubt, this town has very few inhabitants, but a lot of creativity and a desire for us to get to know them. This makes it a wonderful place for the Buenos Aires province to visit and explore its history in a very original way.
