2023 marks the group’s 30th anniversary Ya Pa Hill 3. On this occasion Borixon and Wojtas are preparing a unique vinyl with a commemorative single and announce that this is only the beginning of the attractions related to the anniversary.
Track “Park (DJ Eprom Version)” is a single of the legend of Polish hip hop created after a 21-year break in publishing activity. The number in a nostalgic way refers to the times when the line-up was forming to its strongest version. Musically, the rap was set on an old-school boombap beat produced on an AKAI sampler.
Currently, the group consists of Borixon and Wojtas with support DJ Eprom. In the single we will hear posthumous verses Joyful – one of the three founders of WYP3, who died in May 2021.
“‘Park’ is the result of one of the few Wzgórza sessions that took place over the last few years. Although the band remains musically inactive, my friendship with Wojtas has been constant since the beginning of our relationship. We do not try to make new music, we approach it like this the same as at the beginning, teaser and without pressure. Cutting the questions – the films accompanying the premiere are not the history of the WYP-3 team being rewritten. Their task was to introduce you to the atmosphere of ‘The Park’. Therefore, there is no Zajki, who many years ago distanced himself from the band and went about his life. This does not change the fact that Zajka is the co-founder of this team and his place in the pantheon of Polish rap pioneers is undeniable and we have sporadic contact with each other. Don’t look for a scythe where there isn’t one, and maybe we’ll surprise you yet,” says Borixon, responsible for the concept and direction of the teaser video.
“The number was created a few years ago and was waiting in a drawer for the right moment. The 30th anniversary of Wzgórza is a very important jubilee for us, so we decided to finalize and produce this single. We did it as before, spending a few days with Eprom in his studio, reminding us of the best the times of old-school rap, which we love and still do. And we have a great time. Whoever was at our concert knows what the Wzgórza show looks like in 2k23 “- adds Wojtas.
The premiere of the single is accompanied by a pre-sale of a unique vinyl record, which was pressed in a strictly limited edition. In addition to the song “Park (DJ Eprom Version)”, the maxi single contains an additional version by the author Kes co-produced by DJ Eprom. In addition to the music, the release includes commemorative photos related to the process of creating the song and a large sticker with a sign referring to the WYP3 logo from the 90s.
Rappers emphasize that “Park” is a single commemorating the functioning of the band and is not the beginning of any larger album project. They are also planning a number of activities, including concerts that will remind them of WYP-3.
