Without any taboos, Thierry Ardisson confides at length in front of the videographer Franck Nicolas, this Saturday March 18, 2023. And the man in black looks back on everything… his childhood, his career, his relationship to life and death, his projects but also about his past as a drug addict. The TV host, who has always known how to surprise the public by proposing innovative concepts, intends to mark his place in the history of Paf. And inscribe his own story for posterity. In the early 1970s, the young man was ambitious and broke into the world of advertising. These are years when money is easy and morals are liberated. His own drug will be heroin. An artificial paradise among the harshest that gives him the illusion of being a brilliant conqueror, an outstanding creative. A demon that will accompany him for a long time and regularly, and that he had to fight dearly… the ex-presenter of Everybody talks about it confess to having done a suicide attempt.
“It’s the hardest thing I’ve done in my life honestly”
It was when he decided to detox that Thierry Ardisson left for the United States. A kind of exile, in search of a place where he “was sure he wouldn’t find heroin for three months”. Cloistered in a New York hotel alongside his first wife, he confides: “I wanted to go through the window”.But fortunately, his ex-wife prevented him from carrying out this fatal gesture: “I was going up, she was holding me back”, he explains. A radical withdrawal, without going through a care center, which still leaves him today with a bitter taste: the drug almost pushed him to kill himself! From now on, all this is combined with the past for the husband of Audrey Crespo-Mara who has decided to share his experience with the greatest number via the Youtube network in order to warn of the harmfulness of drugs and the dangers and excesses of addiction. An approach that he had already mentioned in February 2022 on the airwaves of France Bleu: “I got through it, but it’s the hardest thing I’ve done in my life honestly. The hero, at the beginning, we take it to be good, then after a while, we take it to not be bad…” A confession which today, in the context of the Pierre Palmade affair, resonates even more.
