Prince Louis and his siblings will be present at Charles’s coronation. They have an important role in the main procession.

If King Charles III. (74) and Queen Consort Camilla (75) will be crowned together on May 6, the grandchildren, Prince George (9), Princess Charlotte (7) and Prince Louis (4) play an important role. According to reports, Charlotte and Louis will also take part in the coronation procession, previously only Prince George had been mentioned.

The Prince and Princess of Wales’ children William, 40, and Kate, 41, will accompany the King and his wife as they leave the Abbey after the service, reports the “Times”. Anne, the Princess Royal (), her husband Vice Admiral Sir Tim Laurence (), the Duke and Duchess of Edinburgh, the Duke and Duchess of Gloucester, the Duke of Kent and Princess Alexandra are also said to be present at the march from the Church of London . On the other hand, Prince Andrew, Princess Beatrice, Princess Eugenie, Prince Harry and Duchess Meghan are not planned.

Officially, William and Kate are reflecting on their children’s roles

The children of the heir to the throne are also expected to return to Buckingham Palace with their parents in a carriage behind that of Charles and Camilla – Golden State Coach. Officially, however, Prince William and Princess Kate are still considering what role George and Charlotte, who turns eight four days before the coronation, and Louis, who turns five in April, could play on that day. The children’s participation in public events is not usually confirmed in advance, especially for Louis given his age.

George, second in line to the throne, and Charlotte also attended the state funeral of their great-grandmother, Queen Elizabeth II (1926-2022), at Westminster Abbey in September. Prince Louis was not present at the time. It is said that he was too young to attend the service with his parents.

The fact that the heir to the throne is involved is new

The involvement of his heir to the throne and his family at the coronation would be a novelty. Traditionally, the successors attend the ceremony, but they play no role. Such was the case with then-Prince Charles at the Queen’s coronation in 1953, and Elizabeth herself at the coronation of her father, King George VI. (1895-1952), go ahead.

Camilla’s own grandchildren will also play a part in the coronation. The Sunday Times reported that they will hold a canopy over the queen as she is anointed with holy oil. The oil consecrated in Jerusalem was expertly made from olives harvested at the Monastery of Mary Magdalene and the Ascension Monastery on the Mount of Olives. The oil holds special significance for the king as his newly blended oil is based on the same coronation oil used at his mother’s coronation.
