Atletico Madrid doesn’t give Valencia FC a chance – 3-0!
Against relegation-prone Valencia, coach Diego Simeone’s team has no great trouble and scores the next “treble” in round 26 of La Liga.
The Madrilenians set the pace from the start, and Depay created a good first chance just wide of the post (15′). Two minutes later it’s Depay again who heads over the goal. The third top chance also belongs to Depay – this time Mamardashvili makes an excellent save from close range (20′).
In the 23rd minute the time had come: Atletico took the lead through Griezmann. The Fronzose hits with the left, but is a bit lucky with the ball. The ball also lands in the goal on the other side – but when Duro supposedly scored, a foul took place beforehand, and the VAR rightly intervened (31st).
decision after the break
Atletico followed suit quickly after the exchange: Mamardashvili saved against Llorente, Carrasco benefited from the fact that Valencia did not get the ball cleared. In a one-two with de Paul, he makes it 2-0 (49th).
With the 3-0, Lemar made everything clear in the 67th minute, he used a cross from Morata with his head to make the preliminary decision.
Substitute Lino still hits the bar for Valencio (78th) – but it’s not enough for a consolation goal.
Atletico secured third place in the table with the win, while Valencia with 26 points is only in a non-relegation zone ahead of Getafe thanks to the better goal difference.
