RTVE keeps looking an entertainment format that works as well as ‘Masterchef’ or ‘Eurovision’. The chain will try its luck with the adventure genre, both with the relaunch of ‘Peking Express’ and with its own version of ‘El conquistador del fin del mundo’.
‘El conquistador del Caribe’ will be the Spanish Television version of the successful Basque extreme survival reality show. It will have 14 episodes, in which the contestants will have to overcome risky tests if they want to win the prize of 100,000 euros.
The challenges will range from races over rough terrain, helicopter jumps, zip lines, canoeing, diving, mazes, climbing or shot put. If the contestants are successfully passing the different tests, they will be able to seize “the flag of Conquis” and access the camps with better conditions.
They will be divided into three camps based on their characteristics: rich campwith beds and various amenities, poor campon a plain with a machete as an advantage, and the camp extremelocated in a quagmire and without protection against fauna.
The dynamics will be by teams until the final phasein which the captains will disappear and all those who have managed to survive the weekly nominations will unite in a single camp to compete individually.
The chain has announced that the program will have two presenters although the identity of either has not yet been confirmed. Nor is the possibility of having one of the original format, presented by Julián Iantzi and Patxi Alonso, ruled out.
It is known that they will be a total of 21 contestants, which will be divided into three teams, each captained by a celebrity. The red team will be for “supermen”, the green for “superwomen” and the blue will include participants who have abilities other than physical strength. No name has been officially announced yet.
There is no official date yet but it seems that RTVE plans to release it in summeraccording to The Digital Confidential. A risky bet taking into account the decline that occurs regularly in the summer television period. Currently, the program is in the casting phase and will be shot in the Dominican Republic.
