Cultural weekend: These are some of the activities to enjoy

(Then24.com) The Ministry of Culture and Youth (MCJ) offers various cultural options for this weekend, which include visual arts, theater and music exhibitions until March 19, at different locations in the Greater Metropolitan Area.

One option is to visit the Dr. Rafael Ángel Calderón Guardia Museum to se her exhibition “Maiceros” of the artist Costa Rican Guido Nunez Nunez, which portrays the daily work of Costa Rican peasants. The exhibition opened on March 16 at 7 pm in the museum and is an excellent activity to enjoy with friends or family.

Núñez, who is the eldest of 12 siblings and has spent much of his life in the fields, has reflected the work of the farmer in his artistic work. At 82 years old, he has exhibited 40 works, including pencil drawings on paper that represent men and women in their daily lives, mainly related to agricultural production.

The exhibition “Maiceros” can be visited during the hours of Monday to Saturday, from 9 am to 5 pm, until Saturday, April 8with free entrance. In addition, the Museum of Contemporary Art and Design (MADC) has prepared several exhibitions within the framework of Design Week, with free admission from March 16 to 18, which can be visited from March 13 to 19.

On the other hand, the Juan Santamaría Cultural Historical Museum (MHCJS)in collaboration with RA Productions, presents the play “To dress saints” during the March 17, 18, 24 and 25, at 7 pm, in the museum auditorium, with tickets available two hours before on the spot. There’s also activities of MCJ institutions in the event “Transit”.

He Museum of Contemporary Art and Design (MADC) will in turn offer various exhibitions of visual arts from all over North and South America until March 18 starting at 5 pm at the National Center of Culture.

Finally, the direction of the MCJ bands has announced a series of concerts in various places in the country:

  • The Heredia Concert Band will give the concert “Troop Mass and Lent Special Concert”, together with the Alajuela Concert Band. On Saturday, March 18, at 6 pm, at La Agonia Church, in downtown Alajuela.
  • The San José Concert Band will present its concert “Music in the Museum: dedicated to the day of San José”, on Sunday, March 19, at 11 am, in the garden of the National Museum. Free entry for identified nationals.
  • The Limón Concert Band will give a concert with the special participation of soprano Ericka Villafuerte, on Sunday, March 19, at 7 pm, in the Sacred Heart of Jesus parish, Guápiles, Pococí.
