Among the rappers who have participated in the historic editions of Claypole’s Halabalusa, the first major freestyle competition in Argentine squares, are dtoke, klan, T&K, Kodigo and the joaqui.
Where is Halabalusa performed?
Anyone who has passed through the Claypole station can identify the place where freestylers used to gather to rap: a tree-lined plaza above Remedios de Escalada de San Martín.
And it is there where the Municipality of Almirante Brown chose in 2021 to recognize this urban movement: “The Halabalusa Underground movement played a very important role in the construction of a local youth culture. Many references for the national and international freestyle of lxs came out of these competitions that we are very proud of,” they expressed in that moment.
That is why the Claypole station square was renamed Halabalusa Underground Squarethrough an ordinance of the Honorable Almirante Brown Deliberative Council.
