BAMAKO, March 17, 2023: Her Excellency Rachna Korhonen, Ambassador of the United States of America to the Republic of Mali, presented her credentials to His Excellency the President of the Transition, Assimi Goita, on March 16, 2023 at the Presidential Palace of Kolouba in Bamako.
Ambassador Korhonen was confirmed by the U.S. Senate on December 13, 2022 and she was sworn in as Ambassador to the Republic of Mali on December 22, 2022. Madam Ambassador arrived in Bamako on January 18, 2023.

Whether in health, education, cultural preservation, or political reform, the United States and Mali have longstanding partnerships that I am proud to continue. The United States remains committed to working with Mali,’Always together’, to achieve peace, improve health and prosperity. said Ambassador Korhonen.
Rachna Korhonen is a career diplomat and senior official of the Diplomatic Service, with the rank of Counsellor. She previously served as Executive Director of the Combined Executive Offices of the Bureau of Near East Affairs and the Bureau of South and Central Asian Affairs at the Department of State. Prior to that, Ms. Korhonen served as Consul General and Principal Administrator of the United States Consulate in Dhahran, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. She was also Executive Director of the United States Embassy in Colombo, Sri Lanka, and in Washington, she served as Special Assistant to the Undersecretary for Management. She was also posted to the US Embassy in Kuwait and the US Consulate General in Mumbai, India.
Ms. Korhonen holds a bachelor’s degree from Empire State College. She speaks Hindi, French, Finnish and Arabic. In addition to multiple accolades for her performance, she received the Department of State’s Expeditionary Service Award.
