the president of federal Senate, Rodrigo Pacheco (PSD-MG), authorized, this Friday, the 17th, the extension for another 60 days of Provisional Measure 1.143/2022, which raised the minimum wage to BRL 1,302. So the Congress will have until May to analyze the MP. The text can be approved, rejected or modified. In December 2022, the measure was edited and has been in effect since January of this year. The minimum wage will be readjusted to R$1,320 in May, as announced by the president Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva (PT). The current value of R$ 1,302 considers the variation in inflation measured by the National Consumer Price Index (INPC), plus a real gain of approximately 1.4%. However, the amount approved by the National Congress in the General Budget of the Union for 2023 is R$ 1,320, but, to take effect, it depends on a new provisional measure from the Executive.
