If justice accepts the complaint, Marcos Vinicius Lino and Patricia André Ribeiro will answer for murder by cruel means; employees of the day care center where Quenia Gabriela studied must also respond
Marcos Vinicius Lino and Patricia André Ribeiro, girl’s father and stepmother Kenya Gabriela Oliveira Matos de Lima, 2 years old, killed after being tortured by them, were indicted for manslaughter by cruel means. The two inquiries in the case were completed by the Rio de Janeiro. One of them investigated whether there was an omission on the part of the day care center where the girl studied. In this investigation, five people who work at the teaching unit, in Guaratiba, a neighborhood in the West Zone of the capital of Rio de Janeiro, were indicted: the two partners of the institution, the coordinator, the recreator and the recreation assistant. In the second survey, the professionals were indicted based on article 26 of Law 14,344 of last year, called Law Henry Borela device that provides for six months to three years in prison for people who fail to notify public authorities of mistreatment, violence or cruel treatment against children and adolescents
The police allege that the girl had her diapers changed frequently at the day care center and that the staff could easily notice the attacks. Kenya had 59 injuries on her body, fresh scarring and other marks when she was seen by medics. There were 17 injuries to the abdomen, 16 to the back, 12 to the face, seven to the legs and six to the arms. For the police, anyone could see that the girl was being tortured and mistreated. The person who made the complaint was a doctor who provided assistance to the girl. While the girl was treated, the doctor went to a police station to denounce her father and stepmother. Initially, they denied the violence and said that the girl had fallen from a significant height, but the expertise pointed out that the girl was brutally tortured by both, who are imprisoned indefinitely.
