Fortunately, the boy received his much-needed heart and was discharged in September of last year. Despite the improvement in his health, his family and close friends continued with the campaign to raise awareness about the importance of organ and tissue donation.

For its part, the resolution adopted by the Buenos Aires government recalled the origin of the National Organ Donation Day.

“Since 1997, the National Organ Donation Day is celebrated every May 30, commemorating the birth of the son of the first patient who gave birth after receiving a transplant in a public hospital, a date that becomes in a great opportunity to remember the importance of raising awareness in the donation”they explained.
