Last year the spouses got Michael Bindefeld63, and Nicklas Sigurdsson54, the terrible news that shook their lives.
Nicklas had contracted cancer.
– I was working out at the gym and then I thought my neck was swollen and after a lot of back and forth I went to the doctor, says Nicklas in this week’s episode of “Carina Bergfeldt” on SVT.
The swelling turned out to be a malignant HPV-based cancer.
“Couldn’t eat or drink”
In the program, Micael Bindefeld talks about when the husband was at his worst and how they got through the tough time.
– It was hell actually, I would say. For eight weeks, Nicklas had no opportunity to eat or drink, not a grain of rice, not a drop of water, he says in “Carina Bergfeldt”.
Micael says that during that time Nicklas received nutrition and fluids via a tube in his stomach. And for four weeks he could hardly speak.
– And in two of them you couldn’t even whisper, but we texted each other, says Micael in the episode.
How is Nicklas doing today?
Nicklas says that he thinks it was tougher for his husband than for himself. He was just fully focused on getting through the Seven Judgment.
Today he is fine.
– The uterine tumor has been completely irradiated and all metastases have shrunk. The hair has grown out and he is eating as usual again, writes Micael Bindefeld The evening paper.
The tube on his stomach is gone and the doctors say he has no trace of cancer cells left.
– As is well known, you are not “declared healthy” after cancer treatment until five years have passed. But right now he is healthier and stronger than ever, he tells the newspaper.
