The Minister of Defense and Veterans Affairs, Colonel Sadio Camara visited, on Thursday, March 9, 2023, the construction site of the Military Hospital of Mali in Banankoro to immerse himself in the state of progress of the work. He was accompanied by the Inspector General of the Armed Forces, General Bréhima Diabaté, the Deputy CEMGA, General Ousmane Wélé as well as the Deputy Director of the DCSSA, Colonel-Major Moussa Boï Coulibaly.
he major benchmark project is managed by the Malian company Sopromac Insat. The progress of the construction site is up to expectations. Planted on a plot of 15 hectares, it has a built area of more than 61,000 m2. And 279 hospital and resuscitation beds are planned in the construction site as well as 48 apartments of type F3 and F4 for a period of execution of the work is fixed at 24 months. The Minister of Defense and Veterans Affairs, Colonel Sadio Camara said he was impressed by the commitment of the company’s staff. Before noting that practically all the buildings have come to an end. According to the Minister Sadio Camara, the President of the Transition insists a lot on the execution time of the construction site. He affirmed that the authorities of the country will make every effort to help the company to better finalize the work. Colonel Sadio Camara said that the Military Hospital project is a presidential project, adding that the dream of Malians has become a reality today thanks to the commitment of the country’s high authorities. He indicated that this military hospital will complement the care structures for sick soldiers. And also to declare that it is a reference hospital which will help us to effectively take care of our war wounded. He also assured that the national war wounded will no longer be evacuated outside the country, which will save a lot of money which will be directed to other structures in the country.
For the minister, the operationalization of this hospital will relieve the Malian people and also save lives. And to affirm that the care of the war wounded testifies to the regained sovereignty of the country. Also, he congratulated the staff of the company Sopromac for their professionalism and their commitment to the work. The Minister took the opportunity to wish a happy holiday to Malian women in general and particularly to the ladies of the construction site of the Military Hospital. According to Minister Camara, with these brave women, this project will be more successful. Finally, he asked Malian women to pray for the definitive return of peace to Mali. The director of the Sopromac company, Adama Bagayoko, welcomed the visit of the Minister of Defense and Veterans Affairs. He affirmed that this visit testifies the will of the authorities of the country to accompany his company and also encourages the staff in the execution of the works. He assured the Minister that the construction deadline will be respected. According to the director, all the means are put in place by the authorities of the country for the good start of the work. He noted that since 1998, the construction project of the Military Hospital could not be carried out. The director of the Sopromac company thanked the Malian Solidarity Bank (BMS-SA) for its support in the construction of this 3rd reference hospital which will now save lives.
