Loto du patrimoine 2023: our map and images of the selected sites

CULTURE – Several abbeys but also a synagogue, an old cathedral, a church, a mill or an aqueduct bridge: the Heritage Foundation has chosen 18 new sites for the 2023 edition of the Heritage Loto, allowing their rescue, announced this Thursday, March 16 the Heritage Mission.

This is the sixth edition of the Mission for the safeguarding of endangered heritage, entrusted to the animator Stéphane Bern.

The abbey of Saint-Antoine in Saint-Antoine-l’Abbaye (Isère) and that of Saint-Jean in Sorde-l’Abbaye (Landes), the former Saint-Vincent cathedral in Mâcon (Saône-et-Loire) or the synagogue of Elbeuf (Seine-Maritime) are among the lucky ones, as you can see in our map below.

Among the other sites chosen this year: the Wingerter-Ruhlmann potter’s house-workshop in Betschdorf (Bas-Rhin), the Roman aqueduct bridge in Ansignan (Pyrénées-Orientales), the Pavé mill called Brissac in Garennes-sur- Loire (Maine-et-Loire), the Michel Pacha marine biology institute in La Seyne-sur-Mer (Var) or the former Habitation Belleville sugar refinery in Trois-Rivières in Guadeloupe. The prizes awarded through the Heritage Loto will be announced during the next European Heritage Days in September.

Since the first edition in 2018, the Heritage Mission has helped 762 sites for their restoration work, including 108 emblematic regional heritage projects and 654 departmental sites.

Today, more than 60% have already been saved or are about to be saved: 230 have been completed and 240 are in progress. The 2021 edition of the Loto broke a record by collecting more than 28 million euros. Since its launch, this Loto has brought in more than 125 million euros, including more than 26 million in 2022.
