It is convenient not to have kept the coat and the umbrella in the depths of the closet because we can already say goodbye to the summer weather that has accompanied us in a general way during this week in practically all of Spain. The arrival of a cold front will cause a descent of the temperatures starting this friday and there will be an increase in cloudiness and rainfall in the western half of the peninsula and in a large part of the northeastern interior.
“A cold front is sweeping the northern half of the peninsula and, although it will arrive weakened to the south and east, it will be active enough so that the mass of cold air that it carries with it managed to sweep the warm air of the entire territory“, say the experts of meteored.
In this way, if Thursday has been marked by maximums between 5 and 10 degrees above normal for this time of year, with values more typical of May or June, as of this Friday a “notable drop in of the daytime”, up to 8 or 10 degrees, according to Rubén del Campo, spokesman for the State Meteorological Agency (Aemet). The northwest of Galicia and the Mediterranean area will be saved from this, where they will remain with few changes, but the decline will be notable in much of the interior of the peninsula. The minimums will present few changes or will be on the rise.
Del Campo specifies that the thermometers will show “values more appropriate for the time of year”, which will be more noticeable in daytime temperatures, because at night, the effect of clouds and wind will prevent the thermometers from dropping further. Friday also it will rain in Galicia -locally persistent in the west- western Castilla y León and Extremadura.
Those rains can spread in a weaker and more dispersed way to other points in the western half of the peninsula and to the central zone and will tend to stop in the afternoon to the south of the Central system. However, the cloudiness will increase in the second half of the day in the rest of the Peninsula, with probable weak rainfall in much of the interior northeast.
In it Mediterranean they will enjoy skies with few clouds or with medium and high clouds. The same will happen in the south of Canary Islandswhere weak precipitations can occur in the north.
The wind will blow strong on the Galician coast, on the Basque coast, the Pyrenees and also in the Canary Islands. A total of five provinces will even be on alert for wind and waves, according to the Aemet prediction. Specifically, A Coruña, Lugo, Pontevedra and Asturias will be at risk due to coastal phenomena and Lérida, due to wind.
TO starting on saturday, the rains will affect the Eastern Cantabrian Sea and the Pyrenees, without ruling out some spring showers in inland areas. The thermometers will continue to drop a little more, as in Madrid, Jaén, A Coruña or Cuenca, where the maximum will oscillate between 15 and 17 degrees. Exceptionally, some areas, such as Murcia, could exceed 25 degrees and will feel spring again.
