The official flu vaccination campaign began this Friday at 9 a.m. in all health centers and the Central Vaccination Center of the province.
However, initially, the recipients will be only some of the members of the risk groups. In this regard, the head of Immunizations of the Ministry of Health, Fabio Muñoz, commented that, “For now, health personnel, pregnant women and children between 6 and 24 months will be vaccinated.”
And I add: “As new batches of doses arrive, those over 65 years of age and people with comorbidities will be included, who must also be immunized.”
Regarding the methodology, Muñoz explained that, “people must attend any health center or the Central Vaccination Center only with the DNI and the vaccination card. Meanwhile, health personnel will be approached directly at their workplace to give priority to other groups and avoid crowds.
At the same time he recalled that, “The group that needs to present a medical indication is that of people with comorbidities, which will be included in the coming days. They must present a prescription as long as they do not have the card that proves that two or more doses have already been received, in previous campaigns.
Finally, the specialist recalled the importance of accessing vaccination as soon as possible: “People who are included in the risk groups and who, therefore, are targeted by the campaign, are those who, if they get sick, may suffer sequelae or, even die. It is important that they get immunized as soon as possible because it takes 21 days after vaccination to generate the necessary antibodies.
