Hired at the age of 14 to carry out a massacre on commission during a private house party in which came to kill 8 people. This is what happened in Mexico where the police in the past few hours have identified and arrested the killer of a bloody ambush that took place on 22 January in Chimalhuacan, a suburb of Mexico City.

According to the indictment, shooting at the group of family members, including several children, gathered in the garden of the house to celebrate a birthday it would have been the 14-year-old hired by a local criminal gang. According to the investigators, the boy would have fired at random on the group with a machine gun after getting off a motorcycle driven by a peer.

A bloody attack that left 8 people dead on the ground as well as causing the wounding five other adults and two children of the same family unit. The name of the boy arrested Thursday has not been released, but his nickname “El Chapito” is an apparent reference to drug lord Joaquin “El Chapo” Guzman.

For the police, the motive for the ambush would be to be found precisely in the conflict between gangs for the sale of drugs in the poor suburb of Mexico City, even if the exact motive has not been made public. Drug gangs in Mexico often kill alleged rivals selling drugs on their turf but just as often engage in kidnapping and contract killings.

Another young man believed to be connected to the facts was also arrested together with the boy seven other members of a criminal group of which the 14-year-old would be a part of who have been charged with drug-related offences. According to the authorities, the leader of the gang, identified as Leonardo N, alias “El Lenguas”, 28, has already been captured. The minor was held in the Quinta del Bosque Zinacantepec detention center and the adults in the Neza state prison.
