Employees of the Ministry of Emergency Situations on an expedition to the Arctic will test equipment completely made in Russia

KALININGRAD, March 17. /TASS/. Employees of the Ministry of Emergency Situations will test rescue equipment and equipment of completely domestic production during a large-scale expedition to the Arctic, which will take place in March-April. They will also work out scenarios for deploying a mobile hospital in cold climates and overcoming difficult terrain, Roman Okhotenko, director of the information policy department of the Russian Emergencies Ministry, told reporters on Friday.

“A competition was held among Russian manufacturers of equipment, clothing, equipment, food, first aid kits, up to bear scarers. The end of March is a rather difficult season for the Arctic, it was chosen on purpose, we need to test the equipment that we were presented with in difficult conditions. Various introductory – it will be the deployment of an airmobile hospital in arctic conditions, and overcoming hummocks,” he said.

Okhotenko noted that the expedition will include employees of the Ministry of Emergency Situations, including rescuers from various units and doctors. “These are the people who will have to use this equipment in the future, they will test it on themselves, give points, and in the future a decision will be made on putting this equipment (in service). We place a very important emphasis on import substitution,” Okhotenko said, noting that in this expedition the percentage of use of foreign components and equipment will be zero.

Earlier, the press service of the Russian Emergencies Ministry reported that a large-scale expedition will take place from March 26 to April 7 as part of the Safe Arctic 2023 interdepartmental exercise. The route will run through the territories of three regions of Russia: Komi, Nenets and Yamalo-Nenets Autonomous Okrugs. The expedition starts in Naryan-Mar and ends in Salekhard.
