An element of the Secretariat of Citizen Security of Mexico City and two municipalities of the State of Mexico lost their lives during a pursuit of armed people, Security Secretary Omar García Harfuch reported this morning.
Derived from these facts, seven peoplefour men and one woman they were arrested and made available to the corresponding Public Ministry agent who will define their legal situation and carry out the investigations of the case.
Why did the persecution arise?
According to a joint statement from the agency, municipal police officers from Tenango Del Valle and San Antonio La Isla in the State of Mexico, went to a home located on Adolfo López Mateos street, in the Cuauhtémoc neighborhood of San Antonio La Isla in response to a citizen complaint.
In the property they located four people illegally deprived of libertytwo of them with Amber Alert and secured firearms, tactical helmets and ballistic vests.
During this operational deployment, the municipal elements were received with firearm shots, which caused the death of two police officers. After the confrontation, the alleged perpetrators fled on the Mexico-Toluca Federal Highway until they reached the Álvaro Obregón mayor’s office in a white van, according to C5 reports.
“At Centennial Avenue and the First Centennial Circuit, elements of the Banking and Industrial Police (PBI) of the SSC, caught up with the vehicle, however, the crew, noticing the police presence, accelerated the march, which which caused them to lose control and crash into a pole and resulted in the arrest of two people,” the statement details.
