Before the release of the fifteenth in the output Depeche Mode (listen!) studio album, titled “Memento Mori”, the musicians gave an interview to the NME website. Remembering the keyboardist who passed away in May 2022, Dave Gahan he said in person Andy Fletcher they have lost “their anchor”. Members must have felt the same, he added The Rolling Stones after death Charlie Watts (deceased in August 2021).

Just as an anchor keeps a ship from drifting, and as a result it can run aground or crash into the rocks, so Fletch was supposed to keep the DM afloat for 40 years, cooling the animosity between Gore and Gahan – two wildly ambitious leaders.
“After his death,” Gahan remarked, “Martin suddenly lacked an absolute supporter, because no matter what, Fletch always took his side!”
How was the Depeche Mode band supposed to survive in this situation? The band’s frontman admitted that during the recording of DM’s first album without Fletcher, he and Gore unexpectedly “got closer than ever.” They acted “like separated brothers who met for the first time to have a real conversation,” he added, noting that these were the words of Martin Gore. He fully agreed with Dave Gahan’s opinion. From himself, he only added that there were “only two of them left” in Depeche Mode, so they had to talk seriously in the end.
As part of the promotion of the new material, Depeche Mode will play twice in Poland, where they have a devoted and large group of fans: on August 2 in Warsaw (PGE Narodowy) and on August 4 in Krakow (Tauron Arena).
