The Chinese Defense Ministry spokesman urged Tokyo to “seriously learn from the lessons of history,” stopping doing things that “harm the peace and stability of the region.”
The official spokesman for the Chinese Ministry of Defense, Tan Kefei, warned this Thursday that Japan’s tendency to return to the path of militarization is “very dangerous” and deserves “great vigilance” by the international community.
Tan Kefei signaled that Tokio “he had exaggerated the external threats”“considerably” increased its military budget and “continues to develop and purchase high-end offensive weapons.”
In this regard, the Chinese official urged the Japanese side to “seriously learn from the lessons of historybe cautious in words and deeds in the field of military security, as well as stop doing things that harm the peace and stability of the region.”
Regarding China’s increased investment in defense, the spokesperson said the level of spending is “reasonable and moderate.” He indicated that the Asian giant “adheres to the path of peaceful development and unswervingly pursues a national defense policy that is defensive in nature.”
“China’s limited defense spending is entirely for safeguard national sovereigntysecurity and development interests”, he specified, adding that it also contributes to “maintaining peace and stability” in the world.
At the beginning of this month it emerged that Beijing will allocate 230,000 million dollars in defense this year, a figure that represents an increase of 7.2% compared to last year, the largest increase since 2019.
