Inside the semi-submersible vessel there were two deceased and two people in poor health conditions.

The Colombian Navy seized 2.6 tons of cocaine that were on board a submarine that was traveling through the Pacific and that was destined for Central America. On the ship they also found two deceased and two people in poor health conditions.

On his Twitter account, the president of that South American country, Gustavo Petro, stressed that the naval force “is playing a fundamental role in the seizure through interdiction operations, of cocaine”.

The president also reported that he had asked the Prosecutor’s Office “to be the entity that gives the official figures to evaluate the actions.”

What was found?

In an institutional video of the Navy, frigate captain Cristian Andrés Guzmán read a statement to report that the “interdiction of a semi-submersible approximately 15 meters long” was carried out, which was carrying cargo 2,643 kilograms of cocaine hydrochloride.

Inside the artifact were two lifeless bodies and two people in “poor health conditions“because, apparently, inside the boat there was an accident due to the generation of toxic gases from the fuel.

Both were transported to a ship that was in the area to provide medical care. Subsequently, the deceased, the two rescued and the drugs were transferred to the municipality of Tumaco, in the department of Nariño, on the border with Ecuador, where they were made available to the Technical Investigation Corps of the Prosecutor’s Office.

According to the Colombian authorities, with this operation, which had foreign support, although the country is not specified, “more than 87 million dollars were prevented from entering the financial structures of drug trafficking organizations” and “that more than six million doses will circulate in the international illegal market”.
