"Women, life, freedom": the most vindictive dress of the Oscars pays homage to Iranian women

“This custom-made black-and-white dress stands up for the women of Iran, Mahsa Amini, Hajar Abbasi and Nika Shakarami, who were among the first women whose lives ended too soon with a yearning for freedom, after 44 years of oppression and religious tyranny under the Islamic Republic”explained the actress in a post on her Instagram account, which her followers have filled with compliments and positive comments.

Shohreh Aghdashloo’s dress was made of black and white silk and consisted of a long, straight, sleeveless white dress, combined with a taffeta draping black silk that covered his shoulders and a overskirt with the same fabric. When the actress unfolded this overskirt, she could see the embroidered message in her: ‘Women, Life, Freedom’ (“Women, Life, Freedom”), as well as the names of the three Iranian women killed in September 2022.
