The conquest of ChatGPT is unstoppable. OpenAI’s artificial intelligence is on everyone’s lips, including car manufacturers. Scott Miller, VP of General Motors has clearly defined it: “ChatGPT is going to be everywhere”.
It is the direct conclusion of the American motorsport giant in a interview with Reuters. We know that ChatGPT can answer all kinds of questions, but the idea is that it can also access vehicle information and give us answers that serve to improve driving.
Among the options is the information that would be in the vehicle manual, but also functions such as the garage code or calendar information that we have synchronized in the car.
From the hand of Microsoft
General Motors is located tworking on a personal assistant for your vehicles and it would be trained with the same model that ChatGPT has, as described by traffic light.
The landing of this AI in the car should not be surprising, since one of Microsoft’s objectives when it invested in OpenAI is to bring this tool to all kinds of products.
Microsoft maintains since 2021 an alliance with General Motors for the development and commercialization of autonomous cars. That alliance did not include the use of AI, at least from the point of view of personal assistants. But Miller’s words open the door to expanding this alliance.
OpenAI has recently presented its API and is already being integrated into third-party services, for the moment within business communication. It’s not strange that OpenAI wants to experiment with ChatGPT in different sectors, as is the case with car manufacturers.
General Motors currently works with two assistants such as siri and Google Assistant, the expansion of ChatGPT may be Microsoft’s strategy to convince manufacturers like General Motors.
