Pogacar takes the Paris-Nice after a new victory

The Paris-Nice 2023 he took her Tadej Pogacar. The 118-kilometre stage with start and end in Nice It was the last chance for Gaudu and Vingegaard to unseat a Pogacar who had shown himself to be far superior in the mountains from first place. He already managed to win at La Loge des Gardes, putting 44 seconds in just a kilometer and a half from the Dane, and also on Saturday’s stage in Col de la Couillole.

Thanks to those two victories, he had managed to arrive with a lead of 12 seconds over the Frenchman Gaudu and another 58โ€ณ over his main rival and current Tour champion. Not content with this, he dominated in the final stage and managed to escape in the last bars, to end up taking the victory, after putting another 33 seconds on both of them and the corresponding bonus.

The favorites arrived in front at the last port of the race and, with four kilometers to go, launched the final attack that ended up eliminating any chance of surprised of Gaudu or of Vingegaard. His stage victory gave him his first Paris-Nice, thus succeeding his compatriot Roglic, who this season has preferred to ride the Tirreno-Adriatico.

Pogacar warns with this victory for the next Tour, which will start in July. Double champion in Paris, this season he is looking for his third win on the Champs-ร‰lysรฉes and, after an exhibition at Paris-Nice, he confirms his favoritism to be able to achieve it against a Vingegaard who will have to improve in the coming months to get closer to the performance shown by the Slovenian at this start of the season.
