The Prosecutor’s Office has already identified their names in the murder of Anthony Javier Batista Mena, 23, who died early Monday morning after a fight that began in the parking lot of the Sortis hotel and continued at the entrance to Via Argentina.
Batista’s funeral was yesterday after a mass in the San Cristóbal de Juan Díaz parish. His friends wore white sweaters with a photo of Anthony printed on them. The temple was decorated with balloons and his relatives called for justice. There is no farewell between us, wherever you are, I will take my heart to you! A poster with the image of the deceased stands out.
Yesterday also, the Prosecutor’s Office carried out proceedings in the Sortis properties and the Argentina road.
There are two key videos. An initial one where Anthony is observed pushing another young man in a white sleeveless sweater and jeans in the Sortis, whom he then kicks on the floor. But on the Argentine highway that young man applies a kind of key to Batista who falls backwards on the pavement near the Metro station. Then two other boys in a black sweater -one of them in short black pants- give the deceased a round of blows.
Anthony’s cause of death was brain trauma.
