The success of Shakira and Bizarrap with their hit “BZRP Music Session #53” reached the United States. The duo performed on Friday night at The Jimmy Fallon Showbefore an audience of several million viewers, which certifies the global success of his song.
The presenter congratulated Shakira and Bizarrap for what is “the number one song” globally. Fallon remarked that the artists “have four Guinness Records” and stressed that the Colombian accumulates “ten of these world records.”
Sure enough, the song racks up records since its release in January. It is the most listened to song on Spotify in 24 hours and accumulates more than 80 million views. The song drew attention for the fact that Shakira joined forces with Bizarrap and for the content of its lyrics, a reckoning with her ex-husband, soccer player Gerard Piqué..
“My son Milan, 10 years old, is very excited to be here.. When I told her we were going to New York she started chanting “Let’s go to Fallon’s! Fallon Fallon!” Shakira said at one point in the interview.
“He has a good ear and good taste, and he is also a fan of Bizarrap and he told me five months ago: ‘Mom, you have to do a collaboration with Bizarrap because if you do that song it will be number one,'” said Shakira, who also explained that the boy urged his mother’s manager to put her together with Bizarrap.
In another passage of the interview, The woman from Barranquilla said that Bizarrap traveled to Barcelona to see her and that she asked for a sound similar to Depeche Mode. “I love that group,” he said of the English band.
Shakira admitted that she wrote the lyrics as a way to vent about their separation and that this allowed her to create a bond with women who went through similar situations.
The arrival of the Argentine producer to one of the most important stages of North American TV (the second after Nicki Nicole did it in 2021 to interpret his hits “Wapo Traketero” and “No toque mi naik”) marks a new step in a career that has not yet found the ceiling.
Bizarrap, who is the first Argentine to reach Spotify’s first global position twice (the previous one was with his “Session” with the Spanish Quevedo)also received the four Guinness Records that he reached with this song shortly before going on the air since it launched in January.
