The cause of the fire is still unclear, but arson is the main cause. Fire accelerant had been emptied into various rooms in the house.
After two days of intensive investigations, the Vaud police have put forward a theory as to what might have happened behind the walls of the house in Yverdon-les-Bains where five bodies were found last Thursday. These were the father (45), the mother (40) and the three daughters of a family aged five, nine and 13 years. These have now been officially identified.
Gun found near father
All five victims had gunshot wounds, as the autopsy of the bodies showed. A weapon was found near the father – the investigators of the Kapo now assume that the man first killed his family and then himself. Again “View» reports that neighbors are said to have said that the couple had recently been separated.
The police are currently ruling out any involvement of third parties. The cause of the fire has not yet been determined with certainty, but experts determined that a large quantity of accelerant, possibly gasoline, was present in various rooms of the house, which explains the extent of the damage to the building.
