"Love is in the meadow": hundreds of abused cows at a former candidate

ANIMALS – “My name is Levacher and I love my cows, it’s a passion”, he said, however, during season 15 of “ Love is in the meadow on M6. This Friday, March 10 in the morning, the veterinary services of the Departmental Directorate for the Protection of Populations (DDPP) and the gendarmerie, with the support of the Brigitte-Bardot Foundation, removed many cattle from the Osaâne de Laurent farm. Levacher, located in Vatteville-la-Rue in Normandy.

Paris Normandy et The Cauchois Courier reveal that administrative checks with veterinary services had been carried out on the farm on March 7, 2023. The latter had pointed out numerous shortcomings in the animal protection rules.

A euthanized cattle

“These services have noted that the living and detention conditions of the cattle present on the farm are incompatible with the physiological needs of their species: lack of watering and a marked lack of quality food”, specified the prefecture of Seine-Maritime in a press release that The Cauchois Courier consulted.

The veterinary services had to euthanize a bovine in “great suffering” and corpses of cows were found in the farm, still reports Paris Normandy. Laurent Levacher would have received warnings and formal notices since 2020 for suspicion of abuse. New checks will be carried out in the coming days by the veterinary services. In the meantime, according to information from Be Matinthe herd of 400 cattle will be taken in by the Brigitte-Bardot Foundation.
