The presidential Facundo Manes passed yesterday through San Nicolás / UCR
The tension over the candidacies registered by Juntos por el Cambio had its correlate in the visits this week to the field exhibition: yesterday it was the turn of Patricia Bullrich and Facundo Manes who, without coinciding in a photo as had happened during the weekend weekday at the Harvest Festival, they seemed to take advantage of their presence in the San Nicolás property to differentiate themselves from the tandem made up of Horacio Rodríguez Larreta and Gerardo Morales. “I am advancing with an important part of the radicalism in the ideas and the convictions” of a programmatic proposal, emphasized the leader of the PRO.
The mayor of Buenos Aires and the president of radicalism had coincided on Wednesday in the mega exhibition located on the outskirts of this city in the north of the Province. Both came from starring in a true “photo war” with their rivals in the inmate in the Mendoza celebration. But the governor of Jujuy, in private, considered Bullrich’s meeting with other leaders of radicalism such as the neurologist himself or senators Alfredo Cornejo, Luis Naidenoff or Carolina Losada, also present yesterday in San Nicolás, a provocation.
In Jujuy’s campaign team, where they jokingly baptized the leaders who supported the PRO presidential candidate on the night of last Saturday as the “Club de los Vices”, they argue that she and Mauricio Macri are trying to weaken radicalism to ensure hegemony of the “yellow party” in the definition of national candidacies and in the application of “conservative policies” in a possible JxC government.
The truth is that the day before the former Minister of Security arrived at the rural mega sample accompanied by a delegation of leaders of the “agro team” of her proselytizing army, such as deputy Pablo Torello, close to Macri as well as his brother José, senator since 2021 and former classmate of the former president at the Cardenal Newman school.
Bullrich once again was close to agricultural producers by committing “to take the reins of the changes that the field needs. We have known for many years that it has been the source of financing for an increasingly large State and that it provides fewer and fewer services to society ”. When asked about her proposals for the sector, she assured that in a possible government she would advance in a reduction of spending in order to be able to remove the withholdings on grain exports; She estimated that if these taxes are eliminated in the short term, agriculture could grow 38% by 2030.
Then he echoed the JxC interns and claimed that his contraction seeks to expose “the courage and bravery that must be put into change. In this sense, teams are being assembled ”and he valued the dialogue with different leaders of the UCR. The “hawk” profile that he gives to his proposals contrasts with the call for dialogue and to end the rift with which Larreta has been insisting since the launch of his presidential candidacy.
In the team of the leader of the PRO they comment, however, that the date of the presentation of their own candidacy for the first magistracy has not yet been defined. It seems, in this sense, that the former minister would be waiting for Macri to define whether or not she will look for a “second time” at the Casa Rosada upon her return from Europe, scheduled for the last week of March.
The other “political visit” of the day at the Expo Agro was that of Manes, who claimed the place of the field as the “growth engine” of Argentina. But he acknowledged that “the worst harvest in years” is expected in 2023 due to a historic drought that will generate “extraordinary losses” and therefore regretted that the Government has not implemented “relief” measures for the sector.
He also referred to the electoral question and the discussions that alter the coexistence of the opposition coalition. “Compared to others, I believe that the election has not been won by the internal ones and because we revolve around the same vote as always. We have to go for the people who were disenchanted by what happened in 2015, by the new vote, retain those who support us and call on the youth as well as the popular sector”, the deputy highlighted.
Once again, he seemed to distance himself from the management of Macri, with whom he had managed to bring positions closer in the meeting that both held about 15 days ago in the Los Abrojos farm. But the day before, Manes was critical of “the irresponsible of this government who want to leave the bomb to the next and to some of our sector who want the bomb to explode now,” in what seemed like a shot by elevation to economists who work in Larreta’s team, like Hernán Lacunza.
Nor has the neurologist given any indication of when he will launch his presidential candidacy. His rival in the internal party, Morales, yes: next Wednesday he will present his candidacy at a ceremony held at Luna Park.
