More than 600 reports, a record
Thierry Casasnovas, who presents himself as a naturopath, has become known for his videos, watched by hundreds of thousands of subscribers, where he defends raw eating and abstinence to live better, regenerate and detoxify his body. According to these videos, these practices can prevent or even cure cancer, diabetes or depression. He would also organize internships.
The guru announced in June 2021 to his approximately 600,000 subscribers that he was going to retire from public life “because of the risks of closure of the Youtube channel and harassment”. He finally returned to social media in April 2022.
Last November, the interministerial mission for vigilance and the fight against sectarian aberrations (Miviludes), was again alarmed by the influence of Thierry Casasnovas on several followers, who in particular “ renounced their medical treatment”.
Always according to the Parisianthe Miviludes would have received 600 reports against him since 2011. “He is the person who is the subject of the greatest number of referrals with in particular more than 50 in 2021”specifies the day-to-day interministerial mission.
The announcement of his placement in police custody comes as the first meetings against sectarian aberrations have just opened in Paris.
