Frustration and weariness in the face of impunity for thousands of crimes committed against women in Jalisco they promoted the purple wave that flooded the main streets of Guadalajara.
The reminder of the violence against them came in the first 44 minutes of yesterday, International Women’s Daywhen the Tlaquepaque Police Station reported the discovery of the body of a young woman in Colonia Canal 58.
To claim for these types of cases, yesterday around 70,000 people -according to the state government- protested in three different marches.
After 3:00 p.m., the first march started from Rambla Cataluña towards Glorieta Minerva, and was organized by the Jalisco Feminist Frontwho complained about the lack of action against attacks on schools.
“I no longer want to go out in fear. (I want) that we can go out whenever we want, using whatever we want,” exclaimed a protester.
For its part, the contingent of Aquelarre Radical GDL left around 4:30 p.m. Republic Square towards the Antimonumenta in the renowned Plaza Imelda Virgen -Plaza de Armas-, in the Center of Guadalajara.
“UdeG cover up rapists,” some of the protesters shouted as they attacked monuments of famous University figures and the windows of the administrative building, one of the most damaged in the protests.
The largest contingent was the last to leave. At 5:00 p.m., relatives of victims of femicide and disappearances, trans women, victims of violence, and supporters of the cause began to gather.
To the rhythm of “he who doesn’t jump is macho” they warmed up their engines and left Plaza de Armas to the Glorieta de los Niños Héroes, also known as Glorieta de las y los Desaparecidos.
Public and private buildings, as well as sculptures and urban furniture were the object of graffiti and destruction.
