Diego Flores: "River is a very tough rival, but we are going with the hope of beating him"

After three defeats in a row and with an enlarged Racing in sight, everything indicated that a black cloud would cover Diego Flores and his Godoy Cruz. Against all odds, Tomba brought out his best football, won well and this Sunday he will go to Monumental with his chest puffed out to face River. “He is a tough rival, but we have the illusion of beating him”the Translator throbbed.

Tomba de Flores comes from a great victory against Racing.

Flores, coach of the Mendoza team, told TyC Sports that “we know that River plays at home and that has obligations simply for being River. We will have to defend very well to follow the line of what we have been doing and, obviously, attack him, because we want to win“.

Regarding the Demichelis team, the Translator opined that “they have a great coach and a great coaching staff, as well as great players”.

Last Monday, Godoy Cruz played on a field in poor condition and, even so, was able to display good football. Facing the duel at the Monumental, which has a first-class grass, Diego Flores released: “The advantage will be the one who seeks more, regardless of whether it is River or Godoy Cruz. We always seek to play. The other day, on a field in poor condition, we arrived 15 times. A field in which the ball rolls better will favor us as much as River“.

Regarding the speculations about a separation in case of having lost with Racing, the DT of Tomba opined that “I do not believe” that it would have happened, although “sure we were going to be watched a little more. Whenever there are negative results in a chain, everything is repressed. Coming out of streaks quickly is very important.”
