Defense alleges that the statement would be useless because the former secretary has already testified to the Federal Police for more than 10 hours about the matters investigated
Former Minister of Justice in the Bolsonaro government and former Secretary of Security for the Federal District Anderson Torres will not attend the Parliamentary Commission of Inquiry of the District Chamber of Brasília to testify this Thursday, 9th, on the acts of January 8 vandalism. His defense alleges that the testimony would be useless because he already testified to the Federal Police for more than 10 hours on all the subjects investigated by the Legislative Chamber of the DF. Last Tuesday, the 7th, Federal Supreme Court Minister Alexandre de Moraes released Torres to attend the CPI if he wanted to. In the same decision, the minister authorized the former secretary to remain silent during the deposition. Torres is accused of omission during the acts of vandalism at the headquarters of the Three Powers, since, at the time, he was the Secretary of Public Security for the Federal District and was in the United States on January 8, on vacation with his family. The former secretary is still imprisoned in a military police battalion in the federal capital.
Even without the presence of Torres, the CPI will continue its work this Thursday, with another testimony that was already scheduled. Marília Ferreira Alencar, who was undersecretary of intelligence at the Public Security Secretariat of the DF when the acts of vandalism took place, will be heard. Even so, district deputy Chico Valente, president of the CPI, stated that he will not give up Anderson Torres’ testimony and that he intends to hear the former secretary until the end of the parliamentary inquiry commission.
