A tumultuous fight that began early Monday morning in the parking lots of the Sortis hotel and continued at the height of the Metro station on Via Argentina, ended the life of 20-year-old Anthony Javier Batista Mena.
There were about a dozen drunk boys who savagely kicked, punched, and even shoveled each other after attending a discotheque at the hotel that is attended by members of the gay community.
The most serious situation occurred at the stop in front of the Metro station, where Batista was beaten by several individuals and a friend came out to defend him by hitting one of the attackers with a shovel.
Anthony was first taken home by taxi, but his grandmother suggested taking him to the hospital due to his condition, but he died on the way.
The Homicide and Femicide Section of the Metropolitan Prosecutor’s Office began an investigation.
Franklyn Robinson, an activist for the LGBTQ+ community, said that everyone who was in that fight should go to jail. We are fed up with those little groups that love to fight outside the discos and it is not the first time that it has happened, with the aggravating circumstance that now it was a murder.
